Here’s my story:
I was in the doctor’s office, jaw dropped to the floor, ready to walk right out of the room…
I had just started seeing a naturopath who I hoped could help me resolve the PCOS I suspected I had.
She had just told me that I was likely correct in my self-diagnosis of PCOS AND that I was pre-diabetic with anovulatory menstrual cycles and the progesterone level of a 9 year-old girl.
But the reason I was about to walk out of the room was because she looked me in the eye and told me that these levels were ‘totally fine and really nothing to worry about’…
And she sent me home with a tincture for my anxiety and told me to come back in a year.
At this point in time, I was just beginning my second year of Chinese medicine school and I knew enough about holistic health to see that nothing about this was okay.
Looking back, I am so grateful for this experience because in this moment I realized I wasn’t ever going to get real help within the modern medical system, even within the naturopathic system.
It pushed me to dive deep into the principles of Chinese medicine & ancestral nutrition.
And I started to research, learn, apply, experience what I discovered - which is that at least 70% of what I was experiencing could be reversed and maintained through how I lived every single day.
I became truly empowered when I realized that not only could I balance my blood sugar and heal my cycles through food & nourishment, I could ALSO feel so much better.
No longer was I angsty, hangry, exhausted, almost bipolar (peaking & crashing), and feeling starving but also not much appetite.. and instead just enjoying regular, nourishing meals and feeling much better in my body.
And many years later, this information is inherently what I implement first with over 95% of my 1:1 clients - because it is so necessary for ALL of us to have and lays a solid foundation for lifelong health.
So I decided to compile & simplify my 8+ years of embodied learning into my first foundational course, Nourished & Balanced, to make this essential information more accessible to a wider audience.
